METRO Transit Warning Of Service Disruptions On Saturday, June 21st

King County METRO Transit sent out a warning notice about potential service disruptions due to the Seattle Rock-n-Roll Marathon:

On Saturday, June 21, from 5:00 AM until the event clears and affected streets are re-opened, bus routes in east Queen Anne, South Lake Union, Downtown Seattle, Columbia City, Rainier Valley, Leschi, Seward Park, and along southeast Lake Washington will be rerouted or disrupted due to the Rock & Roll Marathon. Many streets and adjacent areas will also be affected by this event.

Many buses will be rerouted, and traffic and widespread transit schedule delays are expected. Delays in one area can cause delays at other points along a bus’s routing. With more than 40 bus routes affected, the impacts could be system-wide.

In most cases, bus service is expected to return to normal as soon as event participants have cleared each section of the course, however, transit riders should check specific reroute or event information for possible minor exceptions.

Riders – and drivers – should also consider that once the City of Seattle has cleared traffic due to the Seattle Rock-n-Roll Marathon, spectators and celebrants will be trying to get to Fremont for the Street Fair (from 10a – 8p) and the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade (at 3p.)

METRO does give wise advice for all:

While most buses that operate on surface streets in the affected areas will be rerouted, riding transit is still the best way for spectators to get close to the event, as traffic will be congested and parking limited.

Please plan carefully your trip to Fremont this Saturday – and know that the community is grateful for your attendance, and patience!
