Last Friday, March 6th, The Way Station Café shut down its popular drive-thru on Leary Way at the request of the City of Seattle Department of Transportation.

According to a posting on The Way Station Facebook page, from March 3rd, the City expressed concerns about safety.  The building, where the Way Station relocated to last Fall, has not yet been zoned for a drive-thru.

The Way Station management chose to comply with the City request in hopes to have the drive-thru zoned and authorized in the future.  It is also to be hoped that patrons of this coffee shop on Fremont’s western border will continue to dine and drink there.

This time of transition will be difficult while The Way Station operates solely as a walk-in café.  Patience, and continued patronage, by our community will determine whether the coffee shop survives.  Please continue stopping by, and/or checking on The Way Station Facebook page for further updates to come!
